چکیده

The formation of glucose-l-phosphoric acid (l-ester) and its conversion to glucose-6-phosphoric acid have been shown to be initial steps in the degradation of glycogen to lactic acid (1). The enzyme which brings about the conversion of the l-ester has been found in extracts of rabbit muscle, brain, heart, liver, in dog and frog muscle extracts, and in extracts of yeast (2); it is presumably present in all cells which ferment glycogen. The present report deals with a study of the enzyme which causes a migration of the phosphate group from carbon atom 1 to the spatially adjacent carbon atom 6; the enzyme will be referred to as phosphoglucomutase.’ Owing to the presence, in all extracts, of the extremely active equilibrium enzyme2 of Lohmann (5), part of the glucose-6-phosphate is converted almost instantaneously to fructose-6-phosphate. The equilibrium mixture formed is referred to as 6-ester. Phosphoglyceromutase catalyzes a reversible equilibrium reaction, while as yet no indication has been found for a reversibility of the reaction catalyzed by phosphoglucomutase.

THE FORMATION OF GLUCOSE-l-PHOSPHORIC ACID IN EXTRACTS OF MAMMALIAN TISSUES AND OF YEAST

The initial stages of fermentation of glycogen to lactic acid in muscle have been investigated only recently. It was shown (1, 2) that the glycolytic reactions are initiated by the formation of glucose-l-phosphoric acid from glycogen and inorganic phosphate, an enzymatic process in which adenylic acid acts as coenzyme. The glucose-l-phosphoric acid (l-ester) is converted to glucose-6phosphoric ...

Soybean Oil Transesterification Reactions in the Presence of Mussel Shell: Pseudo-First Order Kinetics

Calcium oxide is one of the appropriate catalysts for biodiesel production. In this study, cheap and compatible with environment catalyst has been used. Mussel shell of Persian Gulf coast is one of the sources of calcium carbonate that is converted to calcium oxide at calcination temperature up to 950°C. Transesterification reaction was carried out at optimum condition of our previous study...

Optimization of Biodiesel Production by Chemical Trans-esterification of Sunflower Oil

Vegetable oils and fats in comparison with diesel fuel have high viscosity, by transesterification method the viscosity of oil can be decreased. Transesterification of triglyceride with alcohol is one of the methods for production of biodiesel. In this study sunflower oil, methanol and ethanol, with molar ratio of (1:3, 1:4, 1:6, 1:8) and temperature (40, 50, 60 º C) were dependent parameters e...

Optimization of biocatalytic synthesis of Chitosan Ester using response surface methodology

Esterification of chitosan with adipic acid catalyzed by immobilized Candida antarctica lipase B was carried out in this study. Response surface methodology (RSM) based on a four-factor- five-level small central composite design (SCCD) was employed to model and analyze the reaction. A total of 21 experiments representing different combinations of the four reaction parameters including ch...
